At the Snymans Caterpillar Foundation, we believe that something as simple as breakfast can make a meaningful difference to a child’s day.
Through our Fuelling Futures – Fill My Tummy Breakfast Drive, our Snymans offices, staff and clients came together to collect breakfast foods for organisations supporting children, families and vulnerable communities.
What began as a drive to fill little tummies grew into something much bigger. The donations introduced us to remarkable organisations doing important work in their communities, often with limited resources and an enormous amount of heart.
Bryanston: Small Acts, Wider Impact
Our Bryanston team supported organisations working to provide food, care and opportunities to children and families in their communities.
One Small Act of Kindness
Our Bryanston office donated to One Small Act of Kindness in Bordeaux, Randburg.
The organisation cares for approximately 40 children, from babies to Grade R learners, and welcomes additional children from Bordeaux Primary School in the afternoons for aftercare and homework assistance. Their support extends even further, with meals also prepared for a nearby men's shelter.
A visit to the organisation gave our team a glimpse into just how much goes into keeping a community initiative like this going. Food is a constant need, and the team works tirelessly to source bread, fruit, cereal and whatever else they can find to feed the children in their care.
The cereal donation therefore meant much more than boxes on a shelf. It meant breakfasts and meals that were already taken care of for a little while.
Oliver’s Village
Our Bryanston team also reached Oliver’s Village in Benoni, an organisation supporting disadvantaged people from the Daveyton informal settlement and surrounding communities.
Through education, early childhood development and other social services, Oliver’s Village works to create opportunities and provide practical support to children and families who need it most.
Tanya and Candis visited the organisation to deliver breakfast cereal, clothing and toys, extending the spirit of the Fill My Tummy Drive beyond the breakfast table.
It was another reminder that when people give what they can, whether it is food, clothing, toys or their time, those contributions can come together to make a meaningful difference in someone else's day.
Hermanus: Sharing the Support
Our Hermanus office chose to spread its donations across several organisations serving children, families and people in need.
These included:
Smarty Town Outreach Organisation in Macassar
Angels Crèche & Aftercare in Mount Pleasant
Hermanus Child & Family Service
Several safe houses in the surrounding area
By sharing the donations, the team was able to reach different parts of the community, from young children needing care and nourishment to families and individuals needing a place of safety.
Sometimes making an impact is not about reaching one destination. It is about sharing what you have so that the kindness travels a little further.
Swellendam: From Breakfast to Building Brighter Futures
The Swellendam team embraced the campaign whole heartedly,supporting several organisations working with children and communities in the area.
Donations reached Buffeltjies Day Care Centre, Mullersrus Primary School and Bontebok Primary School.
A highlight was the delivery of 195kg of mielie meal to Bontebok Primary School, contributing to its feeding scheme for learners from Grade R to Grade 7.
The team also supported two community initiatives in Matjoks.
Vuyani Children’s Education Project works to give vulnerable young learners and their families greater educational support through essential learning tools, stationery drives and development initiatives.
Railton Foundation focuses on broader community upliftment, including youth programmes, feeding initiatives and projects aimed at improving local public spaces.
These partnerships are a wonderful reminder that fuelling a child's future takes many forms. A nutritious meal matters, but so do the learning tools, encouragement and community structures that help a child move forward.
Ruimsig: Caring for Children at Different Stages
Our Ruimsig office extended its support to organisations caring for vulnerable children in both Soweto and Krugersdorp.
The team donated breakfast items to Othandweni Children’s Home in Soweto, helping contribute towards the daily nourishment of children in its care.
Support also reached Wings of Inspiration Day Care Centre in Krugersdorp, which provides affordable early childhood care and education to local families and vulnerable children.
Early childhood is where so many foundations are laid. Access to food, care, education and a safe environment can have an impact that reaches far beyond a child's next meal.
Pretoria: Supporting Children With Specialised Needs
Our Pretoria office supported the Eersterus Care &Training Centre in Eersterus, Pretoria.
The Centre provides a day-care, learning and therapy environment for children with mental, intellectual and cognitive disabilities.
For families who rely on specialised organisations such as this, the support they provide extends beyond the children themselves. They create spaces where children can receive appropriate care, stimulation and development while families have access to a community that understands their needs.
Being able to contribute through the Fill My Tummy Drive was another opportunity to support the people who dedicate themselves to caring for children every day.
More Than a Breakfast Drive
Across every delivery, one thing became clear: food may have brought us to the door, but the people behind those doors showed us the bigger story.
We saw teachers, carers, volunteers and community leaders finding ways to do more with less. We saw organisations feeding children while also educating them, helping with homework, providing therapy, supporting families and creating safe spaces.
And behind every donation were the Snymans staff members and clients who chose to contribute.

Every contribution became part of something bigger. Together, those donations reached children, schools, crèches, shelters, safehouses and community organisations where they could make a real difference.
And now, we are stepping into our next challenge: Walking the Future.
Over the next few months, we want to see the school shoes pile up as we help more children walk towards a brighter future.
The focus may be changing from breakfast bowls to school shoes, but our purpose remains the same: to create practical opportunities for children and communities to thrive.
